What We Do
Ad Hoc Music brings the warmth and energy of live, professional music straight into schools, care homes, day centres and community spaces. We operate as a flexible pool of experienced musicians, performing in duos, trios or quartets to suit each setting.
Our performances cover a wide array of musical genres, ranging from classical and world music to show tunes and well-known standards. We encourage participation and often invite our audience to become part of the music, whether it is playing small percussion instruments or singing along to familiar tunes.
We perform music that connects, with every session being tailored to the audience. Our goal is to bring concert-quality live music directly to local communities in a warm, engaging and memorable way.

Where we work
Retirement Homes/Villages
We play accessible, uplifting arrangements—a lighthearted mix of familiar classical melodies, classic jazz and vibrant world music. Listen, chat or join in.
Day Centres/Care Homes
In care homes and day centres, we keep engagement relaxed and natural. For people living with dementia, we use familiar songs, gentle interaction, and music that encourages reminiscence, participation and meaningful connection. Residents are invited to join in using our collection of small percussion instruments, or they can simply tap, clap or sing along.
Schools
For schools, our small ensembles deliver lively, practical sessions featuring instrument demonstrations, active listening and hands-on music-making. Our school workshops are designed to inspire creativity, curiosity and confidence through music.
Each workshop is tailored to suit the age, ability and curriculum needs of the school.
